Don’t Ignore Small Leaks!

Roof decking (or sheathing) is the thin layer of wood that spans the roof’s primary structure and supports the shingles and other roofing materials. Most roof decking comprises plywood or oriented strand board (OSB). These materials absorb moisture quickly, so when either a leak in the roofing material or a build-up of condensation routinely exposes the decking to moisture, the decking may eventually rot or decay. Since the shingles hide the decking, these problems can be challenging for homeowners to spot until the damage has become severe.

The roof decking should never sustain water damage for the following reasons:

.Shingles will not adhere properly to wet roof decking like OSB.

.Keeping water trapped in roof decking can cause the roof to swell or buckle eventually.

.Trapped moisture can cause mold and mildew growth.

If you suspect your roof has damage, you should request a professional roof inspection. Here at Karcher Roofing, we are HAAG Certified.

What does a HAAG Certification mean?

Only roofing specialists can earn specific benchmarks and certifications in their field, and the HAAG Certification is one of the most distinguished. In addition, insurance companies all over recognize the HAAG Certification, and they value this to represent that an actual roofing expert completed the inspection on your roof.
